The Manual

Nancy O'Meara   -

As a former commercial property manager, I always thought of myself as a jack of all trades, master of none. In this field you are expected to be able to think quick on your feet and surround yourself with experts who would be able to help you make the right decisions. Sometimes you did not have a whole lot of time, other times you could speak with several experts to solve the challenge. And many times, I would need to research several different manuals before finding my answer. Without all these tools I would not have been successful.

As a new mom, I was always reading what the expert were saying was the best way to raise my children. I wanted to give my children my best.  Sometimes I got it right and sometimes I did not. Not all the experts were on top of their game. But somehow through God’s grace, my children become amazing adults.

We have manuals for just about everything in life, don’t we? We often think of the writers as experts in their fields.  It we can never be quite sure.

Then I meet Jesus and everything changed.

I discovered a manual that provides everything I need to live life with abundance. Second Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

As I read the Bible, our manual from God, I am always amazed that He has just the right scripture for us in every situation. Even when we might be confused, He tells us in Proverbs 16:3-4 to, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.” And when we are still a bit confused, He tells in Proverbs 11:14, “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but may advisers make victory sure.”

How do we learn all that Jesus wants to teach us in His word? We can read and study so that we will be equipped as servants of God. As we meditate on what we are learning from His wonderful word, we are taught how to journey through life putting God’s principles to work in our professional careers, our families and ministry. Always remembering to reach to our godly advisors along the way when we need support while continually following the manual.

We were never meant to journey life alone
