Walking In His Will
At some point in life, I do believe that most of us ponder these two questions:
What is my purpose in life?
What is God’s will for my life?
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
I think most people want to follow God’s plan, but question if their desires line up with His plan for their lives. I know that Jesus loves us and knows the best path for our lives, and I want to make sure that I am at least moving in that direction.
How do I know?
There have been times in my life when I have stepped out and then asked God to bless my plans, assuming my plans were His. Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” I didn’t commit to the Lord because I did not want Him to establish any plans for me. I wanted to establish my own plans. My thoughts were, “The Lord loves me and He will always have my back.” He will always love me. However, it is also my belief that life will be a lot kinder if I seek His wisdom first as Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Amen.
I truly believe the Lords promises in Matthew 7:7-8. The matter is my staying power:
Is my desire to achieve His plan for my life strong enough to keep me knocking?
Am I going to grow weary because I don’t see any progression or change, or I don’t feel like it because it’s no fun?
Am I going to begin doubting what I thought He planned for me?
Should I practice Psalm 46:10 and “Stand still and know that He is God.”?
What about James 2:14, which says: “Faith without works is dead.”?
It can be confusing and I know it’s not supposed to be because, “God is not the author of confusion but of peace.” 1 Corinthians 14:33. So, I pray for the Lord to guide my steps, and my thoughts saying, “Lord, Your will be done, not mine.” And since His will will be done anyway, I pray for wisdom, faith, peace and perseverance to wait on His timing.
God’s will: That we build a relationship with Him. God, who created us, heaven and earth loves each of His children individually. I believe it when He says: “He that is in me is greater than He that is in this world. ” (1 John 4:4) This scripture verse gives me strength to move forward.
We don’t always know what to pray but Romans 8:26-27 says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Amen. I love this scripture verse knowing God helps us.
God’s will: That “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.” Matthew 22:37-38. This is Gods will and everything else that falls under it, He will bring this to pass in His time and in His way. Stand Still and Know that He is God!!!
