He Has Already Overcome

Glenda Lawing   -

Psalm 91 is a perfect prayer for the times we are in today. Psalm 91:1-2 says: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most-High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

This is one of the prayers I turned to in 2018 when my baby-sister went home to be with the Lord and then again 9 months ago when my mom went home. So many changes in such a short period of time. We have been in a pandemic now for almost a year. So many lives have been lost. So many people are hurting. Despite what I am feeling about what is going on around me, or how things “appear” to be, the Lord says: “Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy cometh in the morning”. (Psalm 30:5) I know that GOD is still in control!

So much is going on in our world right now; like never before. Because I do not understand what is going on does not mean that Jesus doesn’t. “The earth and everything in it are His” (1 Corinthians 10:26). I have faith in the Lord and His promises. God never promised us that we would not go through difficult times. But the Mighty-One did promise that He would walk by our side through them all. John 16:32-33 says: “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!” He said it. I believe in His words.

I believe that faith comes with reading Bible each day. The more I read the more at peace I feel. I may not always understand what I am reading, but I read it anyway. It’s something about reading God’s word that changes my way of thinking. I begin to incorporate His words into situations that arise in my daily living. It didn’t happen overnight. Thank you, Abba-Father, for your patience.

I cannot Love Well, Live Jesus and Believe Big if I am bogged down with what the Lord says has already overcome. I pray for faith. I am doing what the Lord says to do in Matthew 7:7-8 we read, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Father I Pray: “Let the Holy spirit direct my steps and the choices I make. Please keep me from going ahead of You. I pray for your direction and wisdom to recognize your control in this day and beyond. Please continue to guide me into your light so that your will for my life will be done. I pray not to fall into temptation and darkness. Thank you for your unconditional and unfailing love. Amen.”
