Through an all-volunteer effort, Winter Relief has operated as a seasonal Emergency Temporary Shelter since 1992. Hosted at different Anne Arundel County religious facilities each week from late October through April, the shelter is a safe and comfortable refuge for those experiencing homelessness throughout the coldest months of the year.

Severn Run is one of the volunteer Emergency Shelter Facilities this year! As a host, we will provide services, meals, and spiritual guidance to the guests during their designated week. It is a unique opportunity for people in the community to reach out and share their blessings in simple, practical ways, to remind them that they are loved, they’re not invisible, and they truly matter.

Winter Relief requires many people to serve, donations, and team coordination in order to make it a successful experience for all involved.

Each day of Winter Relief we need people to host, prepare and serve meals, pack lunches, transport guests, provide security and overnight supervision, perform housekeeping needs, and assist with other items such as hospitality, games, and entertainment,

We also need many people to help with set up the day before, and clean up after the guests depart on the final day.
