God Hears Your Prayers

Jeremiah 29-12

God hears your prayers, every one of them! In Jeremiah 29:12 the scripture says, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you…” God hears and He answers well. The scripture goes on to say in verse 13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart…” The Holy Bible knows nothing of half heartedness. It knows nothing of the religion of appearences. It knows nothing of a heart that wants to appear ‘God given’ but is actually withheld and self guided. In the Holy Scriptures you see people who are all in! You see people who come to the end of themselves who go to God and cry out to Him and we ask for Him and we seek Him with all of our hearts!

The truth is, the Savior on the cross knows nothing of half heartedness and God will not accept half heartedness on our part. But when we seek Him, we will find Him when we seek Him with all of our heart! “I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.” (Jeremiah 29:14) God never intended for us to love anyone or anything more than Him! And in prayer, we have this amazing opportunity to open up the corridors of Heaven itself, for our hearts and for the world around us! -Dr. Drew Shofner

Think Kingdom. Be the Kingdom!

seek first the kingdom

You've heard me say that we're never going to refer to this "building" as the church. I want us, as a church, to begin new lives together seeking the Kingdom of God and understanding that we are called far beyond religion –we are called to be a Kingdom people!

In Matthew 6:33, the Scripture is really clear about what our priorities should be in this world, and it is this: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

That everything else we would need would be provided for us. That we wouldn't have to spend our lives and exert our lives in weariness and toil in seeking other things! We seek one thing and all other things are provided for us –it is The Kingdom that we should be thinking about first!

I want you to join me in thinking 'new' about "Church."

Church has so many cultural attachments to it. You hear it on the news, and when some building burns down, they say a "church" burned down. Well, that's not possible unless there were hundreds of people inside!

Church: It is the body of Christ. You and I are the body of Christ that God has sent into the world to reveal His Kingdom. Jesus spent His whole life communicating this, even from the very beginning!

When you and I learn to think kingdom, it changes everything! Satan doesn't even want you using the phrase 'Kingdom of Heaven' between your left ear and your right because when you think about the Kingdom of Heaven and the kingdom of God –it changes everything!

It changes your perspective, it changes your understanding, your filter, your lens that you're seeing life through! We have to think kingdom first and last and reject being religious. So when we "seek first the Kingdom," that verse means absolutely nothing until we "seek first the Kingdom" in practical ways, in our marriages, in our parenting, at work –it's not an afterthought!

There are two things that I want you to do. I want you to reject being religious as a way of life and to Think Kingdom, first and last, and allow God to do a new work in your life as you conceive life in a new way! -Dr. Drew Shofner

Jesus is the exact representation of His being!

The son is the radiance of Gods glory

Hebrews 1:3 says, "The son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being." This glory that you long for, that you cannot find in sexuality or material things. The glory that you cannot find in the affirmation and applause of other broken people. This glory that we seek, is to be connected to the glory of God Himself!

Jesus is the exact representation of His being!

So when we see Jesus, we say "That is what God is like!" When we wonder if God is this vengeful God, intending to crush us and rub our faces in our mess, we look at Jesus and we see Him love the woman taken into adultery. We see Jesus lift her up and say "Just go, and sin no more." (John 8:1-11

We see Jesus walking among broken people, touching them and healing them and wrapping His arms around them. We see Jesus going out of His way, inconveniencing Himself to be with people who don't know what God's face looks like, and when they saw Jesus, then they have seen the face of God!

God's ultimate plan of revelation is to send His child into a light-less world.

You are the child that God is sending into a broken world!

I am the child that God is sending into a broken world!

We are to go as Jesus went and we are to walk out of our way and we are not to live self concerned and self consumed!

All of our significance has been gifted by grace. All of our identity has been affirmed by God, so we are free! Now, instead of pushing our own agendas, we have died with Christ and we have allowed God to reveal, to His world, what love looks like through His child! -Dr. Drew Shofner
