No Formula
Prayer in the simplest definition – is communication with God. Prayer is not – tossing all your needs, wants, requests and the needs of others to God – saying Here You Go God – fix it. Then walking away. That is abuse. That is not relationship.
When we enter God’s presence – we ought take a moment (or 10) to simply:
- Be grateful for what He has already done.
- Worship Him for who He Is (even to Us).
- Be reminded of what He has already done
- Thank Him for what He is currently doing.
- Then make your requests known.
With that said…
There is no formula for Praying. The guidelines are given to us in the Sample of the Lord’s Prayer. The requirement – is to ask – In the Name of Jesus. Relationship with a spouse or a close friend ought reflect our relationship with God. That time spent in intimacy – allows a rolling up on God – and asking a thing without sweet words coming first. To start telling God what we need Him to do – without ever spending time in worship – is simply…. rude and disrespectful.
Praying small prayers during the day – is like calling or texting to see how your spouse or a dear friend is doing. Sending pics. Loving gifs or whatever- in expectation of intimacy. Going in to handle your business and never taking time for God to speak back is not two-way communication.
Take His yolk on:
- Learn of Him.
- Learn His word.
- His character.
- What God likes and dislikes.
Then – Love God where He is. Love on Him. Then – make your requests known to God.
