No Anxiety

Glenda Lawing   -

When I was growing up, I do not ever remember the word “anxiety” being mentioned among my friends and me. Today, we live in a world full of anxiety. So many people are living with anxiety every day and I pray for them. Fear is Satan’s most used tactic to get us to doubt God’s word. Anxiety tells us things such as, “How in the world are you going to get through this?”. Or it may look like a “I should have. I could have, or I would have.” Anxiety triggers our fight, flight, or stay stuck response because anxiety is fear no matter if the threat is perceived or real, and it can take a terrible toll on the body.

Yes, I know that God is in control, emotions get in the way. But, despite what we feel, we must remind ourselves that God is in control when everything around us feels out of control. Scripture encourages us not to go on how we feel, but instead to go with what we know. I know that:

  • Jesus will make a way for me.
  • Jesus will deal with all my issues, in His time and in His way.
  • what I am going through is just a test of my faith.
  • this too shall pass, nothing lasts forever.
  • James 1:2-4 says, consider it pure joy, my brothers, and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let preservice finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything
  • the Lord is working in me just as He is in YOU.

I realize it. I want the work done; I do not like the trials. But here is the thing, we are going to go through trials if we want to or not. John 16:33 says, I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

When I am facing challenges now (now, not in the past), I remind myself that I am not alone. God is walking right beside me and YOU through every hardship if you ask Him to.

My move from legal to medical was a difficult challenge for me. When I walk in, I say, “Jesus, you said that you are always with me, you said that you would never leave me or forsake me. You said that when I call on your name, you would be there.” I go in, I do what needs to be done, the entire time fully aware that the Lord is helping me, and when I am finished, I go to My Father and I thank Him, at times almost in tears, because I know for fact that Jesus got me through whatever came my way on that day.

I have witnessed Him change a person’s attitude toward me in less than 24-hours. I smile and I say, “No Weapon Formed,” right Jesus? And I thank Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I lift every eye that comes upon this Blog, I pray that they feel the love that You have for them Jesus. I pray that the unbeliever will give You a chance, which is giving themselves a chance, to see how You will show up and show out in their lives. God is faithful God is sustainer. He shows US every day that He has been, is, and will always be sovereign over our lives and the world we temporarily inhibit. The only thing permanent is God! Amen.
