Seasons of Fall

Nancy O'Meara   -

Fall has always been my favorite season. How about you, do you have a favorite season?

I love the bright colors of fall, celebrating Thanksgiving, the fragrant aromas in the air, the beautiful decorations, the cool nights, sleeping with the windows open and fall sports begin.

Of course, I cannot imagine why everyone does not love Fall, but when I really think it about it, I do understand. Each season brings with it challenges and memories, doesn’t it? As the trees grow bare, we are reminded of the winter that is coming.

As I think about the leaves dropping off the trees leaving empty bare branches, I wait with anticipation knowing Spring will arrive and new blossoms will form to produce new leaves.

As we enter new seasons, God will do the same for us. He may have to prune us a bit as Jesus explains in John 15:1-2 “I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that does not bear fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be more fruitful.” As we walk with Him, we too will bloom and bear more fruit.

He gives us whatever we need to journey through each season. Some of our seasons are much more challenging than others but we can know that Jesus will never leave us on our own. He prepares us as we dig deep into His word. We will discover what He wants to prune in our lives that will enable us to grow in His wisdom and love. I so cherish how He loves us. Delving into His word is always exciting and meaningful as we discover more about Him and His great love and provision for us.

I love what God tells us in Isaiah 40:8 ” The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”  The beautiful leaves may fall and disappear, it may be gray for a bit, but we can count on the promises of our God that will bring light into our lives.

Praying you will enjoy the beauty of Fall as you grow in your relationship with Jesus who will guide you as you bloom and bear new fruit.
