Squeezed and Pressed

Nancy O'Meara   -

I woke up very early this morning with way too many things on my mind. I had a restless night thinking of all the things that needed to be done. Has this ever happened to you? I can be very frustrating because we can become tires and cranky without the rest we need.

I saw this excellent quote the other day by Christine Caine and it really hit home with me, “Don’t get stuck somewhere you should only be passing through.” I can tell you how many times this has happened to me. And it always seems to happen what my priorities are mixed up and I am trying to meet demands that I have put on myself.

As I  self-reflect, I realize it is because I have not been spending personal time with Jesus, reading His word, listening to Him and planning with Him as much as I normally do.

Spending alone time with Jesus keeps us, focused on His priorities for our lives. His is our lifeline. If we don’t spend personal time with Him, we can be pulled away so easily by distractions of life and all that needs to be done. Those things always seem to be pulling as us, don’t they?

I love what Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and  know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the  earth!”

We are also told in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to  you  as well.”

When we  are  still and spend personal time with Jesus, seeking His kingdom, we will know the next steps He has planned for us. We will not  be  squeezed or pressed. He will equip us to keep moving forward. His word gives us such encouragement helping us to overcome over commitment.
