When God Says “Go”

London Baum   -

It can be a scary thing when you feel God pulling you to something new and different. We can allow ourselves to be convinced that we aren’t ready, or we aren’t the right person for it, or maybe we didn’t hear God right, and so on. We can talk ourselves out of right where God needs us to be time and time again. I think this is because we have the wrong idea of what “Go!’ means.

I know in my own life I tend to feel as though when God puts something on my heart, not only do I need to do it but also I need to already be at the finish line and great at it. So then I talk myself out of it because there’s no way I can take that on or because someone else would do it better.

The truth is, when God says go all He is asking for is a single step forward. Not for you to already be a pro at where He’s leading you, not for you to already be the best at something you’ve never done. He’s asking you to take one step, even a small one, towards the end result and that’s all. Then you just build off of that.

Maybe for you that means signing up to help in a kid’s room at church, nothing major. Then over time you start leading the class, but all He’s asking you for right now is to start going in that direction. Don’t obsess over if you’ll be good at it or that you aren’t sure about what to do, just start in that direction. Don’t fret over what you think the end result will be and feel afraid, look at the ground in front of you and move your feet a little bit.
