What IF…
IF: Severn Run
Do you wake up in the morning and see the day ahead full of potential? Are you eager to see what God is doing in and around you? Do you open your Bible and pray that God will place you next to a person with whom you can share Jesus?
Or are your mornings more like most of ours…We roll out of bed 30 minutes later than we should, jump in the shower, get the kids up, fed, dressed and off to school, throw the laundry in the dryer, head off to work or run to Target and the grocery store. By the afternoon we wonder where the day has gone. As our head sinks into the pillow an hour later than it should, we close our eyes and think, “Did I even pray today?”
For most of us, the second scenario is probably a bit closer to our reality.
We’re not judging you! That’s us too!
But what IF we lived like Jesus? IF while we lived life (see above), we opened our eyes and hearts to those around us who are desperately seeking hope. A hope we can offer them through Jesus.
IF is a movement that began in the heart of Jennie Allen. In 2013 Jennie built a team of godly women from around the country and they launched IF:Gathering. About the event, IF says this:
“The world around us feels like it is crumbling and almost nothing seems certain, until we look to Jesus and see that our Hope is very clear and certain. He didn’t just give us salvation—Jesus is our salvation and the example of what it means to live in the fullness of grace and truth. What the world needs is His redemption, the very redemption and hope that lives inside of us. Rather than shrink back, it is time to love like Jesus loved, serve like Jesus served, pray like Jesus prayed, and pursue holiness like Jesus pursued it. Join this global gathering of women across denominations, generations, and cultures as we come together in the name of Jesus.”
