Kairos Prison Ministry

God is at work inside the darkness of the prison! And now, He is assembling a team of servants for the next Kairos Prison Ministry weekend at the Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI). The Church at Severn Run is looking for 5 men to join this team.
JCI is a men’s maximum-security prison. This will be a unique opportunity to encourage the residents to seek and build relationship with Christ and the Christian community.
Kairos uses these weekends to share the love and forgiveness of Jesus to residents that may not know it, and to also lead them into continuing ministry with one another via weekly prayer and shares. Kairos trains, recruits, and prepares each newly recruited team member how to share God's love and forgiveness and gives them an opportunity to witness how powerfully God breaks down walls of distrust and fear. Attendance of a weekend often results in the transformation of correctional facility residents through His love and acceptance. This Kairos weekend runs from Thursday, November 5th through Sunday, November 8th.
There are 4 mandatory team meetings before the weekend! They are scheduled as follows:
• Saturday, September 12 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Savage
• Saturday, September 26 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Savage
• Saturday, October 10 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Savage
• Saturday, October 24 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church
These team sessions will prepare you for this experience – both spiritually and in terms of your assigned job. All participants must attend a minimum of 75% of the team meetings.
If you are interested, please fill out the attached Team Application and return it to the weekend leader at the following address:

Team members are expected to come back one Saturday each month for a year. This is a time of discipling, mentoring and friendship. On the Saturday following the Kairos, the Team returns to instruct the residents in the Prayer & Share (Reunion) group. Repeatedly, we hear “I never would have believed that you would come back!” If possible, you are encouraged to commit to this 1st Saturday visit.
If this is not the right time for you to serve as a team member, please consider reaching out to Brian to discuss other ways that you may support our weekend.
