Hold on to Your Faith
Where do you turn when your burdens seem unbearable? You know, the times when you feel like you cannot add one more piece to your plate?
Where do you turn when you have those days when you think, Lord if one more thing happens, I think I will scream!
The Bible is very clear as to where we can turn in these times. It is in Matthew 11:28-30, which says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Jesus is the living son of God, the sovereign God of this universe, and He has been given all the power and authority over heaven and earth. Whatever burdens we carry, they will never be too much for our Father. Jeremiah 32:27 says, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?” God is omnipotence, this is a reminder to us, a reminder that nothing is beyond the Lord’s power.

Do you recall that last time when you were bogged down with so much heaviness that it felt like you were carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? What was the outcome of that?
The same God that brought you out of that situation, better, stronger, wiser and with more faith, is the same God we serve today. The same God that woke you up has not changed. Jesus is just Who He says He is and He says, come to Me.
So, you might ask, “How do I come to Him?” Here’s how I would do it.
First, I would let the Lord know what my burdens are and yes, He already knows, but the Lord desires you to come to Him with it. Philippians 4:6-7 says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Here is something to ask yourself and be honest in your answer: “If you had no adversity, no illnesses, and all of the money you desired; you had everything you wanted and/or wished for in this life, would you build a relationship with the Lord?” For me, adversity, and tough times are what made me strengthen my relationship with the Lord. I remembered how I called on the name of Jesus in a really bad time in my younger years. The SAVIOR was there. He brought me out victoriously. He put my feet on steady ground. He allowed me to feel His love for me. He changed my life!
So, when I went through an even more horrible time in my life, I knew exactly who to turn to; the one who never changes. The one who loves me unconditionally. The one who never goes back on His word. The one who says in 1 Peter 5:10 “After you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.” Hallelujah and Amen to that promise. I needed to suffer because I was disobedient. The Lord told me “No” very clearly but I said “yes.” But guess what, just as 1 Peter 5:10 says after I had suffered a little while, The Lord restored me, strengthened me, made me wiser; He put my feet on a firm foundation and let me know that when He says “No” it is because He has better plans than I could ever make for myself.
I am eternally grateful. It is why I can write this Blog. I have testimony! I know the one who never changes. I know the one who never goes back on His word. I know the one who is always rooting for you and me.
