Jesus as Insurance

To be saved is to let Jesus Christ, the son of God, forgive our sins and occupy our life. It is so much more than a fire insurance policy! Some of us are as passionate about Jesus as we are about our insurance policy; we really don’t value Him until we need Him! He is totally irrelevant...

Prayer Is The Way The Lost Get Found

Jeremiah 37

Father loves the lost, and prayer is the way the lost get found.

When we pray, God does something in us and something through us!
When we pray, we enter into the presence of God and if you go there often enough and you pray with all of your heart, and if you do not give up, you will be changed through prayer!

Cold can't come into the presence of hot and not become warm. You cannot bring your life, with all of its pain, into the presence of healing without being healed! You cannot bring hopelessness into the presence of immeasurable hope without hope alighting in your life!

Physical battles are fought in physical ways that require knowledge and insight.

Spiritual battles are fought in ways that require even more knowledge and insight and the truth is that in the battle of the ages between heaven and hell, between lost and saved, we know the enemy's battle plan!

We know how Satan keeps people lost. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says,  "The God of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

They don't understand the message about the glory of Christ who is the exact likeness of God and so in a world where God has come, people say "where is God?" In a world in which love has demonstrated itself in the most sacrificial, selfless way imaginable we say "where is love?"

Why? Because Satan has blinded them.

So now we know the enemy's battle plan but if we will start regularly and faithfully specifically praying for lost people - they will be saved! I believe we will see a supernatural wave of faith rising in the salvation of hundreds of men and women and boys and girls because no one is unreachable -no one!

You know, it's not a coincidence that God chose Saul (the Apostle Paul) to be the twelfth replacement disciple! It's not a coincidence that God chose the hardest head. The furthest out, most radical opponent of Christianity in the day and said, "I'm going to show you the power of the Gospel. I'm going to take the person that you would say would never bear my name and he's going to bear my name most beautifully and brilliantly over all!" (Paraphrased)   That wasn't for no reason that God did that. And so I just want to say to you that no one is unreachable!

Jeremiah 32:27 says, "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind, is anything too hard for me?" And the answer is no!

When we pray God works in us and changes us and then when we pray, God changes external reality as well. Prayer is the way the lost get found and when we become a house of prayer and we pray for lost people, we will begin to see many men and women and boys and girls come to know Jesus in ways that we have not seen before and it will be the power of God's Spirit doing this -because we prayed! -Dr. Drew Shofner

Nothing is impossible with God!

Nothing is impossible with God

In Luke 18:27 Jesus replied, "What is impossible with man is possible with God." There are only two possibilities: This is either true, or the God of this book is not real! This is a belief that will change everything about your future!

What is impossible in the normal standard of human life, human intelligence, human ability, the laws of physics as they are normally understood and in the human physical realm--well, with God, it is quite possible!

Jeremiah 32:27 says "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?" You and I need to memorize Luke 18:27 and Jeremiah 32:27 and we need to ask ourselves "Is anything too hard for me?" When we are hurting and when things are not going our way, "Is anything too hard for me?" is not a question because most of the time our eyes are not on the Lord. They're on our checkbook, they are on our relational problems, they are on our children, or our parents, our schoolwork or job, but they are not on the Lord!

When we are faced with the impossible, we need to understand that what seems so life suckingly important in this moment is not more important than my personal relationship with Jesus. So that's what I'll prioritize, and as I do that, I will face this challenge knowing that nothing is impossible with God! I will hear God say to me, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?"

The truth is, the God of the Bible, the God of creation, the God who began everything in an impossible way, began it all with a word! The Bible says that in the beginning, God spoke and because He spoke, the impossible happened--something was created from nothing!

When Jesus came onto the scene as the very heart and face of God on planet earth, He did the impossible from the beginning: water becomes wine, the blind see, the lame walk. Those who had never seen a sunrise saw God's mercy and grace and the beauty of creation in the touch of Jesus! Those who had never heard the voices of their loved ones or the songs of God in worship, with a word, with a touch, with a smile--the cripple walk and dance!

God is a God who redefines reality. Jesus took what was little, with the lunch of a little boy offered up freely to him, and He took the loaves and the fishes and He did the impossible and He fed 5,000 people! And just to show that little, in the hands of God, is more than enough, there were 12 basketfuls left--that's impossible! Oh wait, nothing's impossible with God! Impossible futures are not impossible when we look up! -Dr. Drew Shofner

Jesus as Insurance

To be saved is to let Jesus Christ, the son of God, forgive our sins and occupy our life. It is so much more than a fire insurance policy! Some of us are as passionate about Jesus as we are about our insurance policy; we really don’t value Him until we need Him! He is totally irrelevant in our lives until there is a problem, and then we call. That is the way many of us construct a relationship with God and its completely wrong!

The best gifts are the ones that are from the heart and from someone who really loves you. Our God is an awesome gift giver and He gives us the gift of life; eternal life! We need to understand that the eternal life that scripture is talking about is not just life when we die. Eternity is now (when we believe); so eternal life begins now.  All of this is found in Christ. Not in the world and not in our own independence.

Here are the two realities we get to choose between. Life in this world where the God of this age dominates, according to 2 Corinthians 4:4, “satan who is the God of this world (the God of the ways of this world, the God of the values of this world, the God of the cultural fashion of this world) has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” This is the realm where the prince of the air (satan) dominates. Things are hard here; things are bad here; you are in a world that is led by a spirit that is out to deceive you and wound you as deeply as possible. We are on enemy occupied territory; and it’s a battle!

So, these are the realities we choose between; the God of this world and our life in this world, or the God of eternity and the savior of the world Jesus Christ! When we believe, we switch worlds. When we believe, we change allegiances. When we believe, we live in a completely different culture. Everything changes and Jesus is not just an idea in our heads. Jesus becomes the guide and the leader and the Lord of our life. He occupies our hearts, our thinking, our fears and our future. He occupies our shame, our past, and He fills all of life with His goodness and His glory.

Now, if the God if this age (satan) has blinded people’s minds, how are they going to see? The answer is you! Saved people reveal the love of the Father and they do this through the life of Jesus! It’s all about opening up your heart and letting Jesus Christ come in and begin to change everything. So, I just want to ask you, are you saved?  –Dr. Drew Shofner
